Do Something For Someone Else

“I don’t want to live in the kind of world where we don’t look out for each other Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand”.

—Charles de Lint poet, folklorist, artist, songwriter, performer

Let's get Dizzy!

Do Something for Someone Else (DSSE) pronounced Dizzy.

Is there anything you would appreciate some help with around the house or garden? If so

Do Something for Someone Else is all about helping our neighbours within community. As such it is a service unique to members of our locality dedicated social network. Please join here to add your full request details, and to connect with those who may be able to help within your locality.

Do Something for Someone Else~ Our Hope.

In our ultra-monetised and commodified society, the simple act of asking for help has become uncomfortable. Everything it would seem must have a price, delivered by a ‘professional’. When we do receive selfless help, so conditioned are we to pay for everything, many of us feel compelled to offer payment.

DSSE is pragmatic about this. We know that we all need help from time to time with a myriad of different things, often of no interest to the aforementioned professionals. Our database provides the opportunity to ask for help. Our members area provides the opportunity to get to know each other. Those who like to help can volunteer without the expectation of personal gain, but with the added benefit that they can raise a few pounds for a local project that they also want to help.

Those who need help can pay as much or as little as they wish. For those who are struggling financially that may be very nominal. Meanwhile those who are comfortable financially may choose to be generous.

Potential. Where might this lead?

It’s a sad fact that we live in challenging times, so challenging that it’s hard to do much more than focus on getting through the day by taking care of ourselves and maybe some immediate family. Indeed, anything beyond that can be seen as a threat.

The question is, is this our human nature, or is it a manifestation of our dominant culture of competition, of separation, and an artificially manufactured fear that causes us to look inward?.

Chrysalis Commons Earth believes it is the latter. We have no wish other than to allow our true nature to manifest by facilitating opportunities for all of us to contribute from a selfless perspective. We expect some to take joy from volunteering perhaps on a daily basis, but what if we developed a culture where we all thought in terms of making time to ‘Do Something For Someone Else’ at least once a week, or even just once a month?. Of course, we can be both recipients and providers depending upon our abilities and our needs.

Ultimately we can rely upon money, or we can rely upon each other.

If there is something you would like to delegate, or are really struggling to do for yourself, please list it on our DSSE database. We are all then invited to consider what we think we might be able to do to help.

One Day

We have no wish other than to allow our true nature to manifest by facilitating opportunities for all of us to contribute from a selfless perspective.
